EPISODE 15: Alexa positively shines

  • May 1
  • 1 min read

When both her parents died young, Alexa became guardian for her siblings.

Their mixed legacies left her feeling lost in her own patterns of self destruction, which led to at least one abusive relationship. But in the end, her mother's tragically fatal alcoholism proves no match for the power of her father's religious positivity.

Alexa found TAPIT's mobile unit, The Pop-Up Poetry Therapy Clinic, at an Austin farmer's market, listened to the episode featuring Brooke, the relationship therapist, and got up the courage to call TAPIT's studio line (808)-300-0449, and leave a message.

The poem of encouragement Todd wrote for Alexa includes her own father's handwriting.

Seeing it through transformative tears is a way of understanding the world as truly poetic. Todd is grateful for the chance to work with Alexa, whose story will serve as an abiding guiding light for all who feel lost from time to time.
